2022 Fashion Trends I’m Loving

It’s 2022 and it’s time to look at what trends are staying from 2021 and what new trends we can look forward to! I’ll be honest, there are some 2022 trends that I am NOT loving… but that’s no fun so let’s take a peek into all the trends this year that I AM loving!

My Favorite 2022 Women's Fashion Trends:

  • Patterns

  • Primary Colors

  • Tailored pieces

  • Sweater Vests

  • Denim on Denim

  • Loafers

  • Gold Jewelry & Pearls

  • Cardigans

  • Collars

  • Pleated Skirts

1. Patterns

Okay, let’s be honest, I am not on board with all the fashion trends from the 2000s that Gen Z is embracing (maybe because I lived through it and it hits too close), BUT one of the things I am here for is the fun patterns! As a lover of gingham, I’m also loving all the checks! There’s a fun, funky flare that I like about these new patterns with a vintage twist, plus they add so much color!

2. Primary Colors

2022 fashion color trends are giving me all the feels! I think this trend might be my favorite this year. It’s all about bold colors (and lots of them); this can be color-blocked pieces or solids - anything with that saturated feel to it. This is a trend that we are carrying over from 2021 and I’m not mad about it. You can watch me Thrift 2021 Fall Trends HERE. The only difference is the color focus, still bold, saturated colors, but mainly primary colors. I love this quick read on styling primary colors! How To Wear Primary Colors by DNAMAG.

3. Tailored Pieces

Now here’s a trend that’s staying for 2022! Tailored style clothing consists of suits, suit coats, etc. I’m really into the idea of a long oversized men’s car coat with a beanie as one of my cold weather staple looks. You really can never go wrong with suiting pieces - adding a suit jacket can dress up a pair of jeans, or add an unexpected twist to a midi skirt and boots. I’ve seen a lot of suits in neutral colors that are trending, but I would also suggest finding them in bold colors; that way you can hit two trends in one!

This fun vintage suit has been really fun to style up!

4. Sweater Vests

I think knits are a forever staple, but for 2022 we are focusing on the classic preppy sweater vest - maybe you have one in your closet already, or maybe it’s time to get thrifting! Checking in the men’s section is a great place to start! You can style them oversized and fitted. I can’t wait to play with this look more in 2022. PureWow has some fun and colorful ways to style up a sweater vest, check it out HERE!

5. Denim on Denim

Here’s a trend that I am LOVING. You can never have too much denim, right?! Maybe it’s just me but I think this is a fun way to start playing with layers in your wardrobe. I frequently lean towards denim on denim outfits - you can check out some of my favorite denim moments here, and here! This is a great way to start playing with items you already own, and maybe wearing them in a way that is new to you!

6. Loafers

I’ve bee having fun with my loafers - I recently wore a “PJ all day look” and loafers where the perfect touch. You can dress them up with a nice pant, or down by pairing them with a fun sock! They’re a great shape for all of the wide leg and straight leg pants that are in, and definitely something that you can keep forever as they come in and go out of style. But is a good loafer ever really out of style?

7. Gold & Pearls

Gold was key in 2021, it’s staying and adding it’s BFF, pearls! This isn’t just for jewelry. Seems like a common theme for 2022 is bringing back some classics in a new way. I love wearing delicate gold necklaces and earrings as a part of accessorizing. The fun thing about gold is that it can be worn with everything! I went thrifting on a search for 2022 Trends and found an amazing pearl purse - such a fun way to start adding pearl detail into your outfits. You can check out my video to see all the other fun things I found - watch it here!

8. Cardigans

It’s 2022 and Cardigans are no longer something to throw on over your blouse, they are the whole top. We are wearing cardigans as sweaters in 2022 - think of it as a button up, but in cozy form. Another trend we are carrying over from Fall 2021, is knits and textures, only in cardigan form. I love that 2022 is giving us new ways to wear our classic items. Our wardrobes deserved this kind of attention. In 2022 we are getting more use out of out our closets than ever!

9. Collars

A trend repeat that I will AWAYS love! If you’ve been part of my online journey at all you guys know I love a good collar. There’s just something about it that brings me JOY. In 2022 I’ve made it a goal of mine to wear more things that bring me joy, even if they’re outlandish! Not saying that collars are outlandish - they’re essential! Collars can make a good blouse better and a bad blouse good - ya know? Here’s one of my favorite collar moments.

10. Pleated Skirts

Preppy styling seems to be a common theme for 2022 - I don’t mind it! I had a lot of fun styling up some holiday looks in the winter and definitely gravitated towards a preppy feel with a fun plaid on plaid look! That look also included loafers and a cardigan! Apparently I was ready for 2022 before I knew it. Pleated skirts can be so fun to style and they feel fun to wear! Wearing a tall boot can create a whole different look than tights and loafers, both so chic!

So get into your wardrobes, pull out some pieces you already own & start playing dress up! Or grab some inspiration from the above items to use on your next shopping spree - you won’t regret it! And above all, make it fun. Fashion should always be about you expressing yourself in your own way. :)
